NDIS Specialist Support

Understand Behaviour. Build Safer, More Meaningful Alternatives.

Positive Behaviour Support helps identify what a behaviour may be communicating, what influences it, and which practical changes can support greater safety, choice, regulation, and participation.

Behaviour Support That Looks Beyond the Behaviour

Behaviours of concern do not happen in isolation. They may be influenced by communication difficulties, health, trauma, sensory needs, emotional regulation, relationships, routines, environments, or unmet needs.

Fresh Start Wellness takes a person-centred and evidence-informed approach. We gather information from the participant and authorised people around them, observe relevant patterns, consider the function and context of behaviour, and develop strategies that are realistic for everyday settings.

The aim is not simply to stop a behaviour. The aim is to improve quality of life by strengthening communication, building useful replacement skills, reducing avoidable triggers, improving environmental support, and promoting the least restrictive approach.

  • Identification of patterns, triggers, risks, and possible functions of behaviour

  • Collaboration with schools, coordinators, clinicians, and other authorised stakeholders
  • Progress review and plan updates

Our Process

How This Service Works

1

Understand

Gather information, listen to the participant and support network, review relevant records, and assess the contexts in which behaviour occurs.

2

Plan

Develop clear, person-centred strategies that address needs, reduce risk, and build practical alternatives.

3

Support Implementation

Explain the plan, guide authorised support people, review how strategies are working, and adjust recommendations when required.

Documentation We May Prepare

Reports and Documentation

Documentation depends on participant needs, referral scope, available information, NDIS requirements, and the agreed service.

  1. Functional Behaviour Assessments
  2. Interim Behaviour Support Plans
  3. Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans
  4. Restrictive-practice protocols and reduction strategies where applicable
  5. Risk assessments and safety recommendations
  6. Progress reports
  7. Plan-review reports
  8. Training and implementation resources

Behaviour Support May Be Suitable When

  • Behaviours of concern affect safety, relationships, learning, participation, or daily routines
  • Existing strategies are inconsistent or not creating enough change
  • A participant needs an Interim or Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan
  • Restrictive practices require appropriate assessment, oversight, and reduction planning
  • Families or support teams need clearer guidance
  • Multiple environments need a more consistent approach
  • The presentation involves autism, psychosocial disability, trauma, communication needs, or other complex factors

Plans Designed to Be Used, Not Simply Filed Away

A behaviour support plan is most useful when the people implementing it understand the reasoning, can use the strategies in real situations, and know what to monitor. We prioritise clear language, collaborative implementation, and review rather than treating the report as the end of the process.
